Complete your fabulous dining room with this elegant Home Signature China Display. It is the perfect way to store or display your fine china and collectables. This stately cabinet has wonderful detailing and will add warmth to your home. Its beveled glass upper cabinet can be equipped with mirrors and lights to help attract attention and add aesthetic appeal.
Build the upper and lower cabinet frames according to the dimensions shown on the drawing and the lumber sizes indicated in the materials list. The end of each frame piece should be attached using two 3/8" x 2" dowel pins. Use a 3/8" drill bit and a portable hand drill or a horizontal boring machine to drill the holes necessary for the dowels. The holes should be drilled 1 1/16" deep. Place a few drops of wood glue into the dowel holes and tap in the dowel pins with a wooden mallet. Place glue on the exposed dowel pins and assemble the frames. Use bar clamps and hand screw clamps to secure the frames. Use a framing square to assure that the frames are perfectly square. Allow the glue to dry over night.
Anyway, Sketchup is just a means to an end, and my real end goal is to design and build a china cabinet for my wife this Christmas. Here's my initial rough draft of what I have in mind. The door frames and drawer fronts are birdseye maple. The door panels will be bookmatched zebrawood. The face frames, and main carcass will be plain maple and some maple ply. The crown moulding is wenge. The door pulls will be simple "ebonized" or wenge pulls. Our favorite styles are contemporary and shaker, meaning simple lines. We're not real fond of complex contours and traditional style. The frames have no detail, just simple square frames, and the crown is the same. just mitered with no profile. I'm not sure what style to call this, but I like to think of it as modern Asian inspired. One part of the design I'm struggling with is that I want to make the top and bottom in two separate pieces. I'm not sure how handle the edge where the top and bottom meet and the horizontal line they create. I thought about chamfering the bottom/top edges to mask any imperfections in alignment. For some reason I associate this technique with "cheap" furniture. I also thought about attaching a simple moulding to the top piece and have it overhang a little so it will cover the edge where it meets the bottom piece. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to handle this? Any other critiques and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Soft gentle shapes, unique patterns, a mixture of materials and elegant details all describe the unique elements that are synonymous with a Bob Mackie gown; and these motifs are evident in the Bob Mackie Home – Signature Collection by American Drew.
The Signature collection is a fresh twist on classic designs. The inspiration and story is the creative use of materials and veneer work. The finish is a beautiful Rosewood color with veneer details in Primavera, Ebony, Walnut Burl, Mahogany and Cherry. Black Granite, Antiqued Mirror and Golden color accents add depth, drama and sparkle to this collection.
Ribbon, lace, feather and starburst motifs add the 'dare to be noticed' flair to this group. Custom designed jewelry-like hardware, pierced brass collars and brass feet on selected items add a fine, finished look to each piece.
Bob Mackie Home – Signature Collection is high style, but scaled for today's homes. From creating a gracious Master Bedroom to a casual Dining or Occasional setting, this collection addresses every room in the home.
